Love Letters

I adore love letters -to me there is almost nothing as romantic as receiving or sending one.

Note: When I say "love letter" I am talking about the hand-written, old fashioned kind. The kind of letter where a kiss mark is often made on the paper and the pages smell like cologne or perfume. (Its not that I have anything against a typed out or
e-mailed love letter, but there is something about actually seeing hand-written ink on paper that makes me feel giddy now days).
.
I truly think that love letters are very under rated and that more people should write them. Also, in a time where practically everything costs money a love letter is also a great way to show your love without spending anything but some time :)

If you are still stuck on extra things to do for your loved one/ones this Valentines Day I would suggest writing them a truly honest, old fashioned love letter.

Do you write love letters? Does your partner? Would you rather have a gift or a love letter?

  6. I'm a lucky girl - dave so often find it hard to express himself verbally, that he writes me letters insted, I have one for each birthday, christmas, and anniversary for the 4.5 years we've been together! Unfortunately, I'm a bit rubbish and feel uncomfortable reciprocating (for some reason... but I have a blog; inconsistent huh?) so the poor hasn't had many back from me!

  16. I just wrote a love letter to my old girlfriend (wait, that sounds a bit weird, I have issues I guess) and what I included was a MIX TAPE!! now nothing says I love you like a mix tape of songs that reminds her of you and vice versa (see: High Fidelity) Nice post BB!

  17. I save the love letters for when my husband is away, either for training or a deployment. That way they are more special for him, and really give him something to look forward to. I wrote him a letter everyday that he was in basic training, he has every one of them tied together with a ribbon in his "special box".

  18. Ah I used to. But not any more. Sometimes love emails but that is all. Good idea!

  20. I think this is a lost art. Most folks don't do it, because they don't know how. The information age has sort killed this type of thoughtful dialogue and gift exchange. I once tried to explain to a bunch of male co-workers (who were younger than me) how to do this and you could tell they were 'baffled'. "You mean we have to write down how we FEEL?"

What I used to do was fill out a bunch of romantic postcards with short poems, address them and stamp them and then drop them in the mail once a week to my sweetie. Every day she would run to the mail box to see if she got anything...it was cute. I should really start doing that again......

  21. I think I'd pass out if I received a love letter from my husband of 22 years! Perhaps I should write one to him???

  22. Personally I would take a sweet letter over a gift any day. I also really like things that are handwritten, it's more personal then Times New Roman could ever be.

  23. i agree. i havent gotten one in a long time, but when i did, they always made my heart go pitter-patter...

  24. I'm with you. Anyone can "call" the local flower store and have flowers delivered. With my ex, he would wait til the day of the holiday and have slim pickings of what was left in the card section. If he takes the time to write out a love letter, that is such a great feeling.
