Movie mumblings

This mini holiday has been whooshing by...I wont lie and tell you I have done tons of interesting things, because honestly I have not done much at all. Its been wonderful....

I have seen quite a few awesome films lately, but so far the one that I enjoyed the most was Avatar. I watched it in 3D (which may have made it better) and enjoyed every minute of it (and it was rather long). It made me want to move to cool planet where everyone has blue skin, rides weird dinosaur-like creatures and has a deep connection to nature ;)

Currently I am half way through watching all six Star Wars movies (I love them). Its been very cool seeing them again. Clearly, the geek force in me seems to be growing stronger this holiday *winks*

whats the best film you have seen this holiday?

Merry, Merry...

I've almost finished buying and wrapping all the Christmas presents - which is a small Christmas miracle really, as I usually leave it until the last minute (literally)...
>
This morning I am trotting off to the shops for one last dose of "merry mall madness" before I just chill out and hope that Santa leaves some awesome presents under my Christmas cactus (yup, i said cactus) *winks*
>
As I will be out, busy and dashing through the malls with packets all over my arms, over to the fruit cake we go, laughing all the way, ha ha ha....(sorry, got carried away there)...Anyway, as I will be busy I probably won't be posting again until after Christmas day :)
>
I hope you have a very merry, blessed Christmas filled with love...and that Santa brings you exactly what you are hoping for.

Ps - Chat to you all super soon :)

The necklace I got..

Remember I told you I picked up a package from the post office the other day...Well, here is a picture of the gorgeous necklace that was inside:
Description: White Gold, Rhodium Bonded, Edwardian Pendant with Clear CZ in Silvertone - from LuShae Jewellery.

Though I had seen pictures of the necklace on the LuShae jewellery website, I was happily surprised to find that the pendant looked so much better in "real life". It is very expensive looking and so sparkly. I really like it.

A Note: If you looking for a great piece f sparkly white gold jewellery, but don't exactly have a diamond budget - you should check out the LuShae Jewellery website. (they ship anywhere) x

AquaFestival

The floating stage

The Parlotones

Last night I went to the AquaFestival to see the Parlotones. It was a fab evening- so, i thought i should do a little show and tell....
.
We had great seats centered a few rows back in front of the floating stage (perfect). The sky was clear, Table Mountain looked wonderful and the Parlotones were really very impressive live (though, they did scare me a bit when they did a short cover of Lady Gaga's "poker face" - weird choice).
>
Heres a little more info on the event (if you interested):
The sold-out Parlotones show rocked the AquaFestival's 2000-strong audience last night. Set on a floating stage in the Victoria and Alfred basin, V&A Waterfront, the Parlotones is but one of 12 world-class performances that will entertain Capetonians and international visitors throughout the summer.

Happy Friday!

Friday Fluff

Tonight The boyf and I are off to the Aqua Festival to watch The Parlotones (one of my fav South African rock bands) at the Waterfront. They will be playing on a floating stage, which will be awesome. (Click HERE to read about the Aqua Festival)

The other day I watched the movie The Boat That Rocked (aka Pirate Radio) and It was totally cool. If you enjoy a good funny film - you should definitely watch it when you get the chance.

Remember THIS post, where I said I had something waiting for me at the post office. Well I went to pick it up and it was a necklace. Its pretty. I will post pics and tell you about it soon.

Today is my last day of work and then I am off until 4 January (yay!). I'm not going away - So, I intend to just chill out, go to the beach, read and enjoy Cape Town :). Oh, and though I may not blog every day, I will still be blogging often while on holiday (in case you were wondering)

What you up to this holiday season?

Messenger/laptop bag giveaway

Today I am happy to announce the start of a giveaway sponsored by Fox & Locket.

A note: What I also love about Fox & Locket is that they have a "one for one" policy/mission - for every bag sold a book bag with a 2nd hand book is donated to an under privileged child in South Africa AND for every dress sold, a dress is donated to an underprivileged girl (awesome, right?).

The winner of the giveaway will get this messenger bag:

Description: This nifty and stylish messenger bag is made from hand printed fabric. It's well padded and suitable for small laptops, and closes with two press studs. There is a separate matching small bag inside (useful to keep your knickknacks in)

HOW TO ENTER:
1. Be a follower/subscriber, THEN please visit the Fox & locket Etsy store and tell me what you like.
2. Blog about this giveaway for an extra entry (please let me know what the link is to your blog post)

Please note: *Anyone may enter.
*This giveaway will end on Sunday, 3 January 2010 and the winner will be announced on Monday, 04 January 2010.

* winner will be chosen by random.org
Good luck, darlings!

What I got...

Here are a few things that I bought recently and like alot - so i thought i would mention them to you:

* Benefit Celebutante kit - this would make a fabulous gift. Its a nice way to try a few benefit things without having to buy the big sizes. It comes in a cute box with a mirror in it. The kit has: 2 lipsticks, a gloss, mini benetint, mini highbeam, 2 eye shadows, Dallas blusher, blush brush and eyeshadow dual brush.

* Dermalogica "brighten up" moisturiser with SPF15 - I heard this new Clean Start range by Dermalogica was mainly for teens - but on my quest to find a tinted moisturiser I thought i'd give it a try anyway. Ive been using it a few days and I love it. This moisuriser is lightweight, gives some coverage with the tint, isnt too expensive and is by Dermalogica (one of my fav brands).

* Maybelline Colossal volume lash mascara - It makes my lashes look fuller (which i really need) and i like the fun yellow packaging :)

* Silver grey pashmina/shawl - Recently Ive been getting alot of invites to weddings and dressy things - So, I thought it was a good idea to buy a pashmina that can do day or night (and isn't black). I decided on a silver grey colour and it goes with so much.

Buy anything fabulous lately?

And the winner is...

The winner of the Friedasophie silver bird necklace giveaway is...* drum roll*...Emily Kennedy!

May I ramble to you, my deer?

I have noticed that during this time of the year most people seem to get deliriously happy, act insane or go into some deep contemplative state...... I think I'm definitely on my way toward being deliriously happy. How about you?
>
Tomorrow is a public holiday here in South Africa (hooray!). So , I will probably stay away from my computer and try go and play outside if I can :)

Tonight I plan to brave the V& A Waterfront mall to get a little Christmas shopping done. I also plan to have a wonderful dinner and a bottle of red wine (I'm thinking sushi or pizza)

Friday Fluff

Last Night I attended the Cape Town premiere for the movie "Invictus". It was really cool VIP affair with loads of free snacks and drinks. I also got to see a bunch of interesting local celebs and Morgan Freeman actually came into the cinema to introduce the movie (it was too cool!). The movie was good and made me feel very patriotic. It was a cool night....Oh, and I may have told SA celeb Jeannie D that I wish I had her boobs..umm, anyways...

Unfortunately, I missed out on the Collect Jewellery party last night because of the premiere, but this morning i trotted over to the site to check out the new Adore range - I love it (Click HERE to see it)
>
A quick update: Tuesday night I participated in the Twilight charity run (remember this post)... anyway, it turned out to be a walk and only 5km long (The Boyf is not really very good with details). It was fun and 16 000 other people did it too.

Tonight The Boyf and I are off to have dinner with Betty Bake and her hubby (its his birthday tomorrow). She is a really great cook and I can't wait to see what she made for dinner.

Have an amazing weekend, darlings!

Happy Friday!

What did you learn this weekend?

Because I like yummy cookies

>
This weekend I had the chance to try a whole bunch of awesome cookies made by the lovely Jean of Jean and me.

First off I must say the homemade packaging is totally cute (see above) - I adore the little hearts and quirky wording on the labels. Once I started to try the cookies I found they were baked to perfection and that the flavours were subtle, yet very interesting. (cookies I tried: Lime & coconut, vanilla custard, White chocolate with cranberries & nuts AND ginger & dark chocolate - my favourite was vanilla custard)

Currently Jean and me cookies are only available from these Cape Town stores: *U & me coffee shop, Long Street *Nap Living, De waterkant *Green Beans, Westlake *Kassia and Figg, Kalk Bay *Dastakari Chelsea, Wynberg *Sostanza bakery, lakeside
>
.....BUT If you would like to order some of them, you can e-mail Jean on: jeanandmecollection@gmail.com

Random things I felt like sharing

Last night I went for a run up my road. It was slow going and windy, but I did it (yay for me). When I got home after the 15 minute jog I looked totally red faced, sweaty, wind blown and was gasping for air BUT I felt kinda awesome. I had almost forgotten that "runners high" feeling and I wondered why I stopped trying to jog 3 months ago. I am going to try to keep up this jogging thing...I really am (pinky swear).
>
While I was driving yesterday, the driver in the car in front of me casually tossed his ciggarette out the window....It really annoyed me. When the world is literally beginning to choke from all the pollution, I dont understand how someone can toss anything (especially something lit) thats not biodegradable out of a car window. grrr.....littering is so uncool.
>
In other random news - I discovered that you can now buy Cadburys mint flakes (they are good). I also recently stumbled onto THIS clothing website -its hilarious, weird and actually for adults. Would you wear any of it? I probably wouldn't.

Any random things you want to share with me today?

Reluctant runner ramblings

The Boyf informed me yesterday that he has put our names down to do a 10km run for charity on Tuesday......

Me: I got your e-mail about the run. Why does it say plus one next to your name?
The Boyf: Oh, I put your name down to do it too.
Me: haha. Good one, honey. So who's really running with you?
The Boyf: You are . Don't worry though its more of a walk than a run. It will probably be alot of fun.
Me: Then why does it say "run" on poster? Its misleading. The word "walk" would really make me think happier thoughts.
The Boyf: *laughs* we can walk most of it if you like
Me: ummm....or maybe I can just meet you at finish line?

I'm a bit concerned, Ive never done one of these things before. Tonight I better go for a jog to see just how unfit I am (i wonder if i will even make it 2 blocks?). Who knows maybe it will turn out to be fun and then I can take 10km runs off my list of "things to never ever do" *grins* . wish me luck.
