Dreamy cabin escapes

Lately, I have been daydreaming about getting out of the city and escaping to a little log cabin or seaside cottage with The Boyf for a bit... While there are loads of pretty escapes in Cape Town, I can't help dreaming about staying in one of these, absolutely lovely far-away cabins... *sigh*....

Current addictions

* House - Lately I have been watching far too many episodes of this TV series - its awesome (Though it has been making me into a bit of hypochondriac). I would totally go to Dr House, if he was a real doctor.

*Finding glasses -  I am on a big hunt for a new pair of glasses, as I have had my current frames for about 6 years and I am a bit bored of them (Oh, and I think I am a bit blinder - so need new lenses too).

* Ultra feminine dresses - I am totally loving floral, floaty, lacey and ruffled dresses.  This spring /summer, I plan to buy as many pretty dresses as I can afford.

* Bike rides with The Boyf - No matter how many times I do it, I just can't seem to get enough of riding on the back of The Boyfs Harley. Its just so much fun - Plus, going places is so much easier (as parking & traffic are never an issue)

* Good oils -  At the moment I am very addicted to  Bio-Oil and Salmon oil. Lately I have been using Bio-Oil on my body and it has really been helping to keep my skin hydrated this winter ( i really like the smell of it too).  I have been taking Salmon oil tablets for a while, but have recently changed to Salmon oil liquid (not too tasty, but more effective). Salmon oil has done wonders for my hair  - plus its good for your heart too (I try take 2000mg a day)

What are you currently addicted to?

Gossip Girl, season 4 - sneak peek

Gossip Girl Season 4 is being filmed at the moment. Some of it was filmed in Paris and now they are back filming in New York (all pics above from Season 4).

I can't wait to watch it! So looking forward to checking out all the lust worthy outfits (especially Blair's - she is my favourite GG character).

Who is your favourite character on Gossip Girl?

Mid-week notes about this and that

Despite the fact that I woke up this morning to discover that it was only Wednesday (I was secretly hoping I had overslept 2 days and it would be Friday), I am in a fabulous mood. The weather is lovely, the birds are chirping (and by "birds" I really mean the manky pingeon on my windowsill), work is chilled, my pasta lunch is yummy and I feel very loved.

Thankfully my work mug magically reappeared just before I was about to launch my "find my mug"campaign in the office (which may have included posters and random co-worker interrogations)*grins*. I still have no idea who "borrowed" it for so long, but one day I will find them and request a written apology.

I am about to start reading "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen. I have wanted to read this book for quite a while, but since hearing the book is being made into a movie (starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson as lovers - yes, really) I decided that I have to read it before the film comes out. When I'm done with the book, I'm sure I will share my thoughts on my book blog.

How are you doing today?

Its for you...

Since my mind keeps wandering outside into the sunshine and I am really having trouble stringing a sensible sentence together, I thought today would be a great day for an "its for you..." post

How it works: I answer the questions - then you answer the questions as a comment. Why? because sharing is caring *winks*

1. Thought for the day: I need some sunshine
2. Last night I... actually used my skipping rope, ate lamb pizza (that was a bit dissapointing) and watched some House.
3. Word of the week? Cool (saying it way too much)
4. Currently wishing I could... buy a few new dresses, book a trip to Paris with The Boyf and work from home
5. Song of the moment? "You've got the love" by Florence and the Machine (watch the music video HERE )
6. Person you speak to on the phone the most? The Boyf  - and in second place would be my Mom and Dad.
7. Red, white or rose wine? definitely red

Lust have: Mulberry bags

Right now, I am lusting after these two casual (and highly functional) bags by Mulberry. If money wasn't an object, I would have bought both by now...

1. The leather, "Steel Neely"bag by Mulberry. Currently priced at about $1072 (I think this bag is going to be making an appearence on Gossip Girl Season 4)

2.  The oversized "Alexa" leather bag by Mulberry. This pretty bag will set you back about $1300.

Lacey and laid back in LA

Lake Bell and Kate Bosworth looked so pretty at a tea party to celebrate the launch of Burberry Beauty in Los Angeles. Both are wearing lacey dresses by Burberry.
I adore Emmy Rossum's LA street style. She looks so relaxed and classy . The nude, heeled sandals really complete the look.

A caffeine induced ramble & a mug abduction

So far my Friday has started off ok. I woke up wearing my *super girlfriend cape, So I made the boyf coffee, eggs and toast for breakfast. After finishing my morning get-ready routine, I did the math and calmly gave into the fact that I wasnt going to have a good hair day (curly hair + no time + rain = frizzy mess) and that I was going to be late for work again (if only my super girlfriend cape gave me the ability to fly)....

Anyways, I think I've already had one too many cups of coffee today, because I am feeling unnaturally alert and perky. I keep randomly singing little tunes and shouting out "Hello there"everytime someone walks by (I'm sure I must be annoying people). I cant wait for this weekend to begin, so I can catch up on some sleep  (clearly I need to) *he he he*

In other random news: my mug went missing a few days ago (I have hired a stand-in mug until my mug can resume its duties). This is not the first mug of mine to dissapear from our work kitchen (AKA "the mug abduction room"). I'm a bit annoyed and I plan to go into CSI mode about it. Honestly, I dont know how successful my investigation will be, as the last time my mug dissapeared i never saw or heard from it again. My only logical theory is that someone in my office is a kleptomaniac and has a drawer full of stolen mugs. Of course, I also have a few crazy theories, but until i have proof i shall keep those to myself.

How are you today?

* Note: For those who were wondering I do not literally have a super girlfriend cape, I do think it would be cool to own one though..Im sure I could find some uses for it :)

For the love of soccer

Since the Soccer World Cup is coming to end this week in South Africa (it will be missed),  I thought I would share these stunning photos by Jessica Hilltout (which I recently stumbled across online) with y'all. Here is the story behind the photos:

Jessica Hilltout, a Belgian-born photographer, set off on a nine month road trip across Africa to document the continent’s love of soccer, the year before the World Cup was about to be played in South Africa. While on her roadtrip she also exchanged manufactured footballs for homemade ones. She returned from her trip with an extraordinary collection of photographs . This year, a small selection of her images were put together in a lovely, coffee table book called "Amen: Grassroots football".

* To find out more about the book and where to see one of her exhibitons (one is currently happening in Cape Town)  - Click HERE . To see more photos from the Amen project click HERE

And the winner is...

The winner of the lovely Collect, initial necklace giveaway is... Bobby! Congrats lady, please e-mail me soon.

A lazy girls journal and a funny blog

Here are 2 cool things I recently found on the interweb...

1. One Line a Day: 5 year memory book
I think this journal is a great idea - You only have to write one line a day (which anyone can manage) and you can keep it for 5 years. I want one (buy it from HERE or Kalahari.net )

2. My Milk Toof
"One day a Milk Toof knocked on my door and said Hello".

This is such cute, silly and funny blog and  so worth a look (the photos are brilliant). Click HERE to visit My Milk Toof.

Busy wallpaper

I have always been in two minds about busy, patterned wallpaper. I really like the look of it in some homes, but I often wonder if I could ever pull it off in my own home.  I think at the moment the only thing I would be brave enough to put patterned wallpaper on is a retro, vinyl topped, kitchen table.

What do you think of busy wallpaper?

10 things I learnt this weekend

1. I am going to miss the World Cup when its over- the vibe and the soccer watching has been really fabulous in Cape Town.
2. I don't handle large crowds or rude people very well
3. Vuvuzela's become cooler when you have your own
4. Night time bike rides can be very cold
5. House is such a great TV series - I love it
6. I cannot make it out of Woolworths without buying something
7.  Fresh cut flowers are always such an instant pick-me-up
8.  Mash potatoes mixed with pesto are really yum
9. My hairdresser thinks I should go a chestnut colour
10. Often life is alot more simple than we think

Its for you...

Seriously darlings, Where is the time going? Can you believe it's already July? Anyways, today I thought I would do a little "Its for you..." post to kick off the new month :)

How it works: I answer the questions - then you answer the questions as a comment. Why? because sharing is caring (plus we all like to talk about ourselves) *winks*
*
1. Thought for the day: so much to do, so little time
2. Last night I... tried a new shampoo that made my hair soft 'n fluffy, ate dinner with The Boyf and watched the first 3 episodes of True Blood, Season 3.

5. Song of the moment? "Heavy in your arms" by Florence and the Machine
6. Are you a sneakers or high heels kinda gal? I'm definitely more a sneakers / flat shoes kinda girl, but I do like the look of heels and have been trying to wear them alot more.
7. Last movie you watched? Eclipse (my thoughts HERE)
