First off, I should probably mention that I am a
Yesterday The Boyf (who doesn't know much about the books ) and I went to watch a sneak pre-release screening of The Hunger Games film and we both enjoyed it.
The good: Even though there are slight differences to the book, all the main scenes are in the film. The locations, costumes and sets are great. Most of the characters are well cast - Personally I think Jennifer Lawrence is fantastic as Katniss Everdeen.
The not so good: I felt like the biggest flaw in the film was definitely character development - quite a few of the characters lacked the depth and intensity that they had in the book. Also at 2 hours and 22 minutes the film is pretty long, but I seriously doubt they could have made it any shorter without leaving key parts out (The Boyf and I didn't really notice how long it was).Final thoughts: Unfortunately the movie fell short of being as brilliant as the book, but is still entertaining - Plus, it really is awesome to see the book come to life on screen. If I had to rate it, I would probably give this movie a 7 out of 10.
Notes: Before watching the film, I'd recommend that you read The Hunger Games book (written by Suzanne Collins). The film will be released in South Africa on 13 April.
Have you seen The Hunger Games yet? What did you think?
